Greetings,

The first anniversary of the ICJ decision is nearing (9th of July). The
Apartheid Wall still continues to destroy Palestinian land and lives. Not
only has the international community remained idle in tearing down the wall,
it has been supportive of efforts led by the World Bank for supporting the
Israeli apartheid project with international aid and funding. This
undermines the clear verdict of the ICJ not to render any assistance to the
Wall or help in any way to maintain it.

The 9th of July will see massive popular resistance to the Apartheid Wall
across Palestine. Yet, the 9th of July is also a date that calls for global
solidarity. We believe it is crucial (in the days around the 9th of July) to
initiate a global debate around the World Bank's direct international
financial support for Israel's project of apartheid and expulsion of the
Palestinian people. Such a project has so far passed with minimal political
or media attention. We aim to raise awareness, particularly with the G8
meeting at the beginning of July.

Apartheid can never survive without international support!

The Vancouver Wall Must Fall Campaign

The Vancouver Wall Must Fall Campaign will be publicly marking the ruling of
one year ago by the International Court of Justice: the Apartheid Wall in
Israel is illegal*. A public manifestation and mock wall showing the nature
of this wall will be displayed in various parks and venues in Vancouver,
calling on the people of Canada to demand the Canadian government support
international law and take steps to stop the building of the wall.

We invite individuals and organizations mark this event with us. Those
interested in participating in this public spectacle about the Wall are
asked to contact the Campaign at info at thewallmustfall.ca.

The public manifestation will include:

a.. a mock Wall that shows the size and scale of the wall
b.. information passed out to the public about the wall and Canada's
current position
c.. postcards to the Canadian government demanding it uphold international
law and take a position against this wall
  d.. Wall Must Fall buttons
  e.. speakers
  f.. banner drops
  g.. other creative actions

*The International Court of Justice ruled on July 9, 2004, 14 to 1, that the
wall being built by Israel inside Palestinian occupied territory is
"contrary to international law", and that Israel should "dismantle.the
structure" and "make reparation for all damage caused", the wall continues
to be built

The government Canada has since this ruling done nothing to speak out
against the wall, even though the Court specifically noted that all states
have an "obligation.to ensure compliance by Israel with international
humanitarian law."
