Last Thursday July 21 over 40 people turned out to the
Canadian Armed Forces Recruitment Center downtown
Vancouver to picket, protest and raise their voices
against the Canadian imperialist war drive. The picket
began at 3pm with a large "Canada Out of Afghanistan!"
banner unfurled in front of the recruitment center. 

Organizers and supporters picketed for 1.5 hours,
chanting "NO TO HILLIERS RACIST LIES - STOP THE
CANADIAN WAR DRIVE!" "CANADA OUT OF AFGHANISTAN NOW!".
Statements were heard from Anthony Fenton of Haiti
Solidarity BC, Asif Ali Shah of the United Moslem
Alliance, Aaron Mercredi of Redwire Native Youth Media
and Nicole Burton the coordinator of MAWO's Canada Out
Campaign. 

July 21st was an urgent response to the July 14th
announcement by Canada's Chief of Defense, Gen. Rick
Hillier, that Canada would be deploying 2,000 more
troops to occupied Afghanistan. The rally also
responded to Hillier's offensive and threatening
remarks against the people of Afghanistan as he
announced the new attack. Last week, Gen. Hillier
announced to media that the new troop deployment would
target "detestable murders and scumbags" and that the
job of the Canadian forces "is to be able to kill
people."

RECRUITMENT OFFICE AT 3PM. JOIN US TO DEMAND:
