1.TRIAL
As many of you know already I am heading east very shortly to deal with
some criminal proceedings in the city of Montreal.  After a demonstration
last May 15th aimed at Premier Jean Charest I was taken from a restaurant
by Montreal Police and accused of a smashing a ferrari during this
demonstration.  The trial will commence on Monday March 7th in through to
Friday March the 11th, but will likely not wrap up by that time.  I am
accused of mischief and for attending an unlawfull assembly, during that
demo about 15 luxury vehicles were attacked.  Representing the righteous
proletarian will be Denis Portois who has defended nearly every riot
charge in Montreal recently, though he is a busy lawyer we are confident
that he knows what to do.

2.TOUR
While out east for this trial I will be in many of your towns to sing and
play with my sweet swinging guitar.  We are working on at least three more
dates, one at the Anarchist Pub in Kingston Ontario, and two others in
Montreal and Ottawa we have yet to hear from.  Plus we are hoping to put a
show on in Vancouver at the Piccadilly Pub for Feb.15th but I am dragging
my ass on that one.  We are trying to make as many benefit shows for good
causes as possible.  That's what a real radical folksinger should do, make
music for the movement and to help the movement make money.  Unfortunately
I am running short on money myself so if you see me out there next month
buy me a gingerale and light me a joint!  Here is what we have so far,

-MONTREAL QUE!! March 10th: AT ZEKE'S GALLERY: 3955 Rue Saint Laurent at
7:30PM. Joey Only with David Roy Parsons, show to be recorded live for
upcoming release with Raven Hymn Productions.

-BELLEVILLE ONT!! March 12th: RETURN OF THE STREETPOET: Location to be
announced. Organized by the Tenant Action Group, featuring every style of
music inlcuding DEATH METAL, plus Joey Only and David Roy Parsons.

-WILNO ONT!! March 19th: MICRO-RADIO STATION FUNDRAISER: Just ten minutes
from Barry's Bay in the Ottawa Valley region, show to be held at town bar.

3.RADICAL FOLK OF THE GREAT NORTH nearly complete!!
Last summer I recorded an album whose songs were designed to speak to
people living north of the United States and our struggles here.  We made
a lot of homemade copies and gave them all out last fall.  Now I am on a
quest to print 500 of these CD's to take east with me, the first time I
was ever able to do that.  Thankfully I am nearly at my fundraising goals,
though still falling deep in the hole.  There is a prison song, a
squatting song, a BC song, an Ontario song, a Dudley George song, a direct
action casework song and more.  The idea behind the album is to make a
tribute to those who really struggle.  I doubt the CD will ever be carried
in MUSICWORLD!  While on tour we will be recording the show at Zeke's
Gallery in Montreal to make a live CD, then later this summer we hope to
release a second full length album called JOEY ONLY OVERSIMPLIFIED! 
Making more music is the best we can do.

Thanks to the Industrial Workers of the World Vancouver, the Bear Clans of
Maxan Lake, RavenHymn Productions, the Flying Folk Army, and the Mohawks
of Bay of Quinte Midwinter Harvest for their sponsorships.  There were
also many great individuals who helped me get this together in time for my
travelling like Kathryn in Peterborough, or Vicca in Washington.  RADICAL
FOLK OF THE GREAT NORTH should be ready in mid February.  Thankfully all
these great supporters have helped me get within a foot of the cost of
producing these CD's.  I am still falling short of the cost of my plane
ticket even so donations are greatly greatly greatly accepted!!  The CD's
will be ready soon so do get a copy, if you can't afford $5 or $10 we'll
find a way to help you out!!  The content counts more than the counting of
the coins!

4.HAPPENING IN VANCOUVER:
JOHN GRAHAM EXTRADITION - reconvening this week in Supreme Courtroom 54
was the Extradition Hearing of John Graham, a former member of the
American Indian Movement in the 1970's.  John has been framed onto the
murder of Anna Mae Aquash, a former American Indian Movement comrade who
was murdered by the FBI in 1976 at the Pine Ridge Reservation in South
Dakota.  John has been under house arrest for over a year now here in
Vancouver and many of us have become friends with him.  We will support
John to the end and never allow him to become another Leonard Peltier.
     In court on Tuesday the 25th defence lawyer Terry Laliberte
introduced an affadavit from Leonard Peltier claiming that Robert
Branscome came to his cell offering a deal.  The affadavit said that
Branscome offered Peltier freedom in a week if he would testify
against John Graham which Leonard would never do.  This affadavit is
a bomb in the case as it further proof that the American Government
has acted illegally and that this whole case being brought against
John Graham is bullshit.
     This supports the defence in their use of the Tarantino Application. 
In the Tarantino Case they dropped the extradition case because it
was proven that the evidence brought against him was acquired through
illegal means.  In an extradition hearing there is very little a
judge can do.  Under the Treaty all they have to do is prove is the
persons identity.  The evidence brought against Johnboy is all
hearsay but the judge has to allow it because of the Treaty, there is
no hard evidence but the court must accept the evidence as it would
be tried in an American court.  Thankfully there is no case against
John, it is already the longest running extradition case in Canadian
history as most end after the second day.
     Court reconvenes on Monday the 31st at 10Am, Supreme Court of Canada,
courtroom 54, 800 Hornby Street.  Everyone who can come should
witness what may be the end of this historic trial.

USWA 2952, 3 YEARS ON STRIKE - Earlier today (January 28th) there was a
rally for the workers of Modern Auto Plating on Quebec and 6th avenue. 
They have now been on strike for three years.  It is much safer to stand
outside the shop than it as it has failed many Workers Comp. inspections. 
Modern Auto Plating is a great sweatshop in the heart of Vancouver and for
three years the majority of their workers have refused to work nearly
running the company out of business.
    At the rally were union leadership parasites JIM STINKLAIR (BC FED)
and the Vancouver and District Labour Council president whose name
doesn't warrant even remembering.  When Jumpin'Jim went to speak
insults were hurled at him from several radicals hiding in the crowd
of union supporters.  Jim's idea was that the workers should hurry and
win the strike so they can get back to work.  The Solidarity Notes
choir sang and I finished the event off with a couple old Wobbly
tunes, I offered the crowd a different suggestion than the one Jumpin
Jim offered.  I said, "let's see these workers keep strikin' till the
run the place out of business, then can take it over for themselves,
share the profits and all be rich together!"  The crowd seemed to like
that idea immensely.  Later on I joked with the workers, "who wants to
go back to work, it will be summer in three months..."  Indeed the
weather was very warm and sunny today.
     If you find yourself driving by 6th and Quebec honk your horn at the
three or four guys taking picket duty one any one day.  Let them know
you'd rather see them strikin and running Modern Auto Plating out of
business then working and slaving like damn fools!

BUSFARE INCREASE - Again there has been an increase into how much money
people are supposed to pay to get around in Vancouver.  The fares are now
$2.25, a startling increase which must be fought.  People must decide on
the mass to never pay for transit again, then there would be no way to
enforce the fare.  Some anarcho-types made an incredible ammount of fake
bus passes. Local radical Dave OLsen is making FARE STRIKE PASSES and also
bringing people around on his tandem bike for free (its fun).  What was
disapointing was the 1 DAY FARE STRIKE which took a good idea and limited
it to the point where it served no usefull function, clearly a continuous
fare strike is the only correct line to advocate as it is the only tactic
that could stop the increase alltogether.
     Some bus drivers have been very good about while some are poor
bashing pricks.  One bus driver is throwing anarchists off the bus
and is said to be active in their union (CLASS TRAITOR!!).  Another
bus driver recieved a shock when he refused to let a passenger on who
was known for fare striking, as the bus drove away the angry rider
kicked a hole through the glass bus door and ran away successfully
costing translink far more than an unpaid fare.
     So do not pay them anything.  Refuse.  If need be pay them the old
fare, but never $2.25.  I don't pay for Skytrains to yuppie cities, I
don't pay for guns to arm transit pigs, I don't pay for lies and
bullshit.  Transit should cost a quarter, there is no reason to pay
$4.50 every time you want to leave the home.  In Paris the transit
authority could not hire enough cops to make people pay!  It could be
like that here too!!

So to all my friends across this colonial settler state, keep in touch and
keep it real!!  Please eat more garlic!!  Please steal and rob from the
rich.
