PARTY ON COMMERCIAL drive to dispute the planned 8-lane 4-billion dollar 
provincial government pavement job motor deathway. simply put they played 
hockey in the street and only let busses and humans past. if you weren't

WHY ANOTHER MEGA-HIGHWAY? THE GOVERNMENT IS GUNG HO AND PLANS TO NOT ASK

saved that precious shoreline that now earns the city billions in developer 
dollars. the 1970s highway expansion project was supposed to level 
strathcona neighborhood and make our shores paved. but the neighborhoods 
rose up and it was stopped and then some. it changed the politic of this 
unique city yo be without formal freeways running through its core. strong 
COPE, mike harcourt, TEAM and much of the progressive tradition started 
right then in that moment of defiance 30 years ago. we are called upon once 
again. in a world of already apparent global climate change catastrophes it 
is unconscionable to be pave/promote yet more asphixiation of the planet,
