[van-announce] Two Importan Meetings To Save Wreck Beack

URGENT!!
FOR THE LOVE OF WRECK BEACH YOUR BODIES ARE NEEDED!!!

We need YOU at both meetings below to demonstrate solidarity for Wreck Beach. On Feb. 11th, GVRD persuaded UBC to lower Tower #1 to 53 meters from the 58 meters that UBC had originally intended. The maximum height allowed on campus is 53 meters. Tower #1 is already visible FROM THE BEACH. 53 meters is too high in that location! We will also be asking the GVRD Board and Joint Committee to request that UBC lower the three unbuilt towers to 39.9 meters -- as recommended by GVRD staff. Staff need our support. UBC has now moved the three unbuilt towers back to Lower Mall, away from the cliffs as a direct response to public pressure.  

THESE TOWERS MUST BE LOWERED. YOUR PRESENCE IS CRITICAL AND COULD MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE!

Joint GVRD-UBC Resolution Committee, 
UBC Asian Centre, 1871 West Mall

When you come to the Museum of Anthropology on Marine Drive, as you head toward Trail 6, turn left at the intersection light onto West Mall. About half a block straight ahead, hang a right toward the parkade and Nitobe Gardens’ wooden fence. The Asian Centre will be on your immediate right in a grove of trees. Two major items are on the agenda for this night. The UBC Marine Residences and the South Campus Plan.  

Feb 25 (Fri., 9 a.m.)
GVRD Board Meeting
4330 Kingsway, Second Floor Board Room, Burnaby.
(Just N. of Willingdon on West side) 
This is the entire GVRD Board meeting where a FINAL DECISION will be made on recommendations coming from the Feb 11th meeting. 

Again, these will be critical meetings where bodies will count!
