Community Education Programs at Simon Fraser University is hosting:



"Food Security: Effecting Positive Change" 



This free one-day event will investigate some of the factors
contributing to
the availability of safe and plentiful food for all, and look at some of
the

ways in which individuals and communities can have a positive impact on
food

security, both locally and globally.



The event will be chaired by Herb Barbolet, a food policy consultant and

founder of Farm Folk City Folk, and featured speakers will include
Brewster

Kneen, publisher of The Ram's Horn; Beth Burrows, founder, president and

director of the Edmunds Institute; Leocadio Juracan, Vice-President of
the

Campesino Committee of the Highlands (CCDA) in Guatemala; Aimee Watson,
a

local organic farmer and member of the Fraser Common Farm Cooperative

community; and Blain Hjertaas, a farmer, holistic manager, and

environmentalist cattle producer in South East Saskatchewan.



March 5th, 2005 at the Chief Dan

George Centre for Advanced Education (639 Hornby Street, Cathedral

Square, Vancouver, BC) from 9:00am to 4:30pm.



Lunch is provided and reservations are required.
