The Vancouver Community Social Forum (VCSF) is the BC Network Liaison
for the first Northwest Social Forum (NWSF) and will be promoting and
coordinating participation from BC individuals and organizations.

The Vancouver Community Social forum will be holding information
sessions for groups and individuals leading up to the NWSF August,
September and October of 2004. Please contact us to get involved or to
arrange a presentation for your group. Another World Is Possible. LET'S
BUILD IT!

The Northwest Social Forum www.nwsocialforum.org

The Northwest Social Forum (NWSF) will build relationships of mutual
support among activists, organizations, and communities in the Northwest
as we share our visions of a just and sustainable world and find
collective solutions to the daunting social and environmental challenges
of our time.

The NWSF aims to bring together activists, organizers, and citizens from
Alaska, Yukon, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington
who are working on issues of social justice, economic inequality, and
environmental degradation.

Modeled on the four World Social Forums that have taken place in Brazil
and India and on the burgeoning number of regional social forums, the
NWSF will host plenary sessions and open space workshops where
participants can share ideas, struggles, and successes. It will also
celebrate and demonstrate that "another world is possible" with cultural
events and exhibits.

The first Northwest Social Forum will include a variety of open space
workshops based on the following themes:

* Globalization, Economic Justice, & New Economic Models
* Protecting the Public Good
* Peace, Justice, & Militarism
* Environment & Environmental Justice
* Indigenous Wisdom
* Human Rights, Racial Justice, Gender Justice, Indigenous & Immigrant
Rights
* Art, Culture, & Resistance

The World Social Forum www.forumsocialmundial.org.br

The World Social Forum (WSF) was conceived as an international forum
built around the slogan "Another World is Possible" to contest the
formulations offered by neo-liberal economic policies and corporate
globalization.

It seeks to provide a space for discussing alternatives, for exchanging
experiences and for strengthening alliances between social movements,
unions of working people and NGOs, and for providing an opportunity for
cross-sectoral dialogue.

WSF has emerged as a counterweight to the worldview of the World
Economic Forum. The WSF has become a symbol of the gathering strength of
forced fighting against globalization and war. WSF 2004 had over 100,000
participants and became a rallying point for the protest against the war
in Iraq.
