RECONNECTING TO LIFE: A Residential Retreat
November 11-14, 2004
With Jackie Larkin & Maggie Ziegler
This popular annual residential retreat on the banks of the
beautiful Cheakamus River, north of Squamish, is an opportunity to find
refuge and renewal in our own hearts, in nature and in community.
RECONNECTING TO LIFE retreats welcome everyone who cares about our
planet
and would like an opportunity to touch their true thoughts and feelings
about our troubled world within a safe and transformative process that
leads to connection, community and participation.
Solutions for the problems facing us will not be offered; rather, an
environment is created in which we can draw on our collective experience
to
find ways forward which are heart-felt, thoughtful and sustainable. We
will:
* Welcome people whose fear or discouragement has keep them from
engagement as well as people working for change and perhaps struggling
with exhaustion, numbness and despair
* Create an opportunity to move through our defenses and distractions
to
witness together our deepest responses to the suffering and uncertain
future of our shared planet.
* Help us find our home in the interconnected and interdependent world,
deepen our awareness of ourselves as a part of nature, and access the
powers inherent in this web.
* Celebrate and support diversity and commonality.
* Examine the relationship between social justice and environmental
concerns.
* Reawaken our passion, joy and gratitude for life
* Strengthen our desire to participate in protecting all life
Participants can expect:
* A highly experiential workshop with an intensive and safe group
process
that involves interactive exercises, creative processes, rituals, new
ideas
and discussion.
* Periods of silent reflection and opportunities to enjoy the beautiful
surroundings
* A group limited to 22 participants
What other participants have said:
"This retreat was a time of nourishment and rejuvenation, a re-claiming
of personal power, a naming of my future direction, and an experiencing
of immense gratitude to all beings."
"This was a time to reflect on what it means to care deeply about our
earth and the pain we humans inflict on each other and on other species.
The process enabled me to transform pain and anger into energy and hope
and personal action. Thank you!"
