Squatters, Gays, Lesbians Fight the Nazis and Cops!

A documentry about a squat in East Berlin in 1990. Skillfully weaves together
issues of housing shortage, xenophobia, patriarchy and capitalism.
Squatters talk about their experiences in specific houses and projects,
such as the Lesbian-Wimmin's House, the FairyGayMen's House, the people's
kitchen, and a street festival. The film then shows their struggle to
protect these advances from politicians, neo-nazis, and police.
A great film about squatting in Berlin. An honest analysis of how people seek
to build new structures of living and the pressures they face.

german with english subtitles, 90mins

9pm: Born in Flames
A Film by Lizzie Borden

Feminist classic Born in Flames is the futuristic tale of the turmoil that still brews
years after a "peaceful" social revolution. Thwarted by a
system which rejects its minorities, a group of women band together in an
effort to gain control of the state owned media. The film combines the many
cadences of the women's movement - militant, moderate, hip hop, rap, punk,
cool - to suggest the possibility of a unified voice.

First Prize Winner, 1983 Women's Film Festival, 1983 Berlin Festival
