May 29:
1pm Vancouver Art Gallery
Back the Streets!
Rally and March:
SELF DETERMINATION:
Sovereignty for Indigenous Peoples in Canada!
US/UK Out of Iraq!
Israel out of Palestine!
Canada Out of Afghanistan!
Canada/France/US Out of Haiti!
The demand of Self-determination is an increasingly universal demand among oppressed people. It is a demand that directly challenges the interest of imperialism to gain control of oppressed nations resources and people.
Calls for sovereignty can be heard from Iraq, to Palestine, to Afghanistan, to Haiti. These same demands have been called by indigenous nations across Canada: END OCCUPATION! SELF-DETERMIANTION!
The US-led occupation forces in Iraq are in crisis on every level. Declining support of people in America and the heroic and powerful resistance of the Iraqi people are crippling the USs ability to establish its control over Iraq.
The criminal military machine of the US is failing. The people of Iraq are developing organized, popular resistance that is proving to be the most powerful threat facing imperialism.
As the people of Iraq organize demonstrations, strikes and popular resistance on an increasingly frequent basis, we too must come to the street and echo their demands.
May 29th is proving to be a critical demonstration for the Vancouver antiwar movement. As the war on Iraq continues to gain exposure and prominence in the media, we must be on the streets to show that people in Vancouver, people in Canada, people across the world, are standing beside the Iraqi people to demand: Occupiers Out! Self-determination for Iraq!
