I would like to bring attention to an article that will run at the top
of the resist.ca news page as long as this General Strike goes on....
which is an updates page for information on what unions are going out,
where demonstrations, meetings and pickets are happening, and what
services are being shut down in the struggle for HEU and against the BC
Liberal Government. I am asking for help in keeping this up to date, so
please email me to have this added to, and check in often for changes
in information.
This is the schedule of unions and actions so far planned - and I'm
sure at the meeting tomorrow night (sunday) we will be able to add to
this list.
With Solidarity - we can win!

Sunday:
Community Meeting for community and union members to discuss the
organizing of cross-pickets and community support. WISE Hall (1882
Adanac) from 5-8.
Monday:
So far reported that Canadian Union of Public Employees will be all-out
across the province affecting municipal services among other areas, the
BC Teachers Federation - shutting down all public schools, the Teachers
Support Staff Union at SFU, BC Transit in the Lower Mainland and of
course the Hospital Employees Union. Ferry workers have said that they
are not going out formally but will honour any picket lines set up at
the terminals. No union is so far calling this a one-day action, saying
they want to keep their "options open".
Students who will be out of school on Monday (and possibly throughout
the week) are asked to come on down to the protest line at Children's
hospital at Oak and 28th in Vancouver.
Tuesday: Federal and provincial government workers are expected to take
actions, as yet undetermined.
Union leaders for PSAC and the BCGEU have also informed their members
that they will be defended for refusing to cross picket lines. In the
words of Patty Ducharme "if you do encounter picket/protest lines at
your work place you have the moral right to respect those lines."
Wednesday:
Will obviously depend on what happens Monday and Tuesday, but
private-sector workers will likely be the focus of this phase of the
strike.
