Your assistance in posting and distributing this info is greatly
appreciated! I know it's late in the game, but the announcement is useful in
spreading the word for the project's final performances, so whenever you can
get it out is great.
Many thanks,

TITLE: Practicing Democracy
DESCRIPTION: Practicing Democracy is a precedent-setting project that uses
theatre to affect civic policy for the first time in Canadian history. The
project will address how the City can respond to the effects of poverty in
Vancouver and asks: What would you do?
Vancouver City Council has unanimously agreed to consider the legal report
derived from interactive performances. At the shows, instead of casting a
ballot or making a presentation to Council, the public will present their
ideas onstage. This innovative approach to civic dialogue is produced by
23-year stage veterans Headlines Theatre, created and performed by people
experiencing the cuts to welfare, lead by Artistic Director David Diamond.
DATES & TIMES: March 17 - 21, 8pm nightly, with 2pm matinee Thursday, March
18. The event is approximately 2 hours.
VENUE: St. James Community Square, 3214 West 10 Ave
ADMISSION: Pay-what-you-can. No-one will be turned away for lack of $$$.
