In Memory of the
Women's Centres of British Columbia
1970s - 2004
Women's Centres, a lifeline for so many women and girls in British Columbia,
will be sorely missed as their doors begin to close this month.
On March 31, 2004, the thriving Women's Centres' life support will be
unplugged. Women's Centres will be alone at the end, abandoned by the
provincial government.
They will be remembered, loved and sorely missed by women across BC, many
friends and supporters.
Women's Centres, like the phoenix, can rise again to triumph in the life of
this government. With the support of Women and their families in this
province, Women's Centres will once again provide the support, services and
space needed by the Women of British Columbia.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that letters of support for Women's
Centres be sent via fax, e-mail, and/or post to the British Columbia
Government, care of Minister of Community, Aboriginal and Women's Services,
Murray Coell; Minister of State for Women's Services, Ida Chong; Minister of
Finance, Gary Collins, Premier Gordon Campbell, and your local MLA's).
