International Day of Action
END THE OCCUPATION OF IRAQ!
NO 'HANDOVER' UNDER OCCUPATION!
SELF DETERMINATION FOR IRAQ!
JUNE 30th @ 5:30pm
Vancouver Art Gallery
When it was initiated, Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) endorsed the Toronto June 30th Organizing Committee's call out for nationally co-ordinated actions. But June 30th is more than just a day of action in one country. June 30th is, and must be, an international day of action, with Iraqi people at the forefront, leading with their heroic resistance.
On June 30th MAWO and the Vancouver anti-war movement will rally at 5:30pm at the Vancouver Art Gallery in coordination with anti-war protests world wide against the phony US-UK "transfer of sovereignty" to Iraqis. We will mobilize to expose the myth of the "handover of power" in Iraq and reinforce the necessity to maintain focused and consistant action on oppostion to war and occupation.
This demonstration is endorsed by the Toronto June 30th Organizing Committee.
In Toronto, actions are taking place at 2pm with pickets and mass delegations at offices of Canadian corporations involved in profiting from the war in Iraq; at 4pm there is a student take-over and street reclaiming. There is a Rally in Toronto at 5pm at the U.S. Consulate with a march leaving there at 6pm. Solidarity and coordination across the country and across the world.
