BACKGROUNDER
An Algerian man currently living in Vancouver is facing deportation to
Algeria on Tuesday, June 22nd. On Monday, June 21st, he will be appearing
before a federal court judge to have a stay of deportation. He is
currently married to a Canadian citizen and his sponsorship is being
processed. If this man is deported, he will eventually be allowed to
return to Canada once his sponsorship has been approved. This
deportation to a situation that is definitely dangerous and would likely
see him tortured must be stopped. The civil war in Algeria has killed 200
000 and resulted in over 1 million disappearances.
WE MUST DEMAND AN END TO DEPORTATIONS !!!
