MEMBERSHIP AND OUTREACH CO-ORDINATOR JOB POSTING
Co-op Radio is seeking a motivated, inspired, and highly skilled
co-ordinator for our Membership Services and Outreach areas. The
selected person will build/maintain administrative systems that are
sustainable and, whenever appropriate, based upon our large pool of
volunteer labour. This enthusiastic person will train long-term
volunteers and co-ordinate a variety of systems in ways that make
them enjoyable for all and highly effective for the co-operative.
Co-op Radio (102.7 FM) is a dynamic organization with a diverse
listening audience. Our Board oversees a Staff collective, each
member of which is supported and directed by their respective
Committee(s). We currently have 30,000 shareholders and maintain
our independence in this world of corporately-dominated media by
being membership- based and driven. We are just beginning our 30th
anniversary celebrations -- 30 years of non-commercial radio in 13
different languages, which is now broadcast via Internet around the
world every hour of every day.
If selected for this position, you will be both supported and directed by
the Membership and Outreach Committee and the Special Donations
Committee via regular monthly meetings and email discussions. You
will also share in the collective, day-to-day duties of running the Radio
Station and you will attend Board meetings approximately 3 times per
year.
As the selected candidate, you will be very proficient with email, Word
processing, Excel spreadsheets, and Access databases. Your
telephone and in-person communication skills are well-developed as
are your meeting skills. Ideally, you have worked extensively in a
consensus decision-making environment and you have a good working
knowledge of at least one contact/fundraising database. You are able
to both take and give direction in a respectful and clear manner and
you understand the importance of community-based, independent
media, especially in today's world.
The selected candidate will start at the beginning of September 2004.
This is a permanent, part-time position (110 hours per month) that is
unionized through the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW). The selected
candidate will be paid $18.46 per hour with a generous benefit and
vacation package.
APPLY: via email to cfro-hiring at coopradio.org (you will receive an
acknowledgement via email). Please send a cover letter, resume,
AND a paragraph (or two) describing the benefits and challenges of
working in a co-operative/collective organization/structure.
No phone calls please. You can also view this posting on our website
at http://www.coopradio.org or print out the attached PDF version.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: Thursday, August 12th @ 4:00 PM
Vancouver Co-operative Radio is an affirmative action employer. We
thank all applicants in advance; however, only short-listed candidates
will be contacted.
