The transgender community dialogue is a chance for the trans community to
direct public policy, and have our concerns brought into a larger forum. How
would the trans community be served most effectively? What specific needs
exist in our community around substance misuse? What are the barriers trans
people face, in preventing problematic substance misuse? Anything you
want to get off your chest? Let’s make some recommendations!!

The City of Vancouver is seeking input from the transgender community with
regards to problematic substance use prevention. We will discuss
participant’s experiences and understandings related to problematic
drug use, in order to inform the development of a citywide problematic drug
use prevention strategy.

The consultation will occur in two parts; the first session focusing on
people’s experiences of substance use/non-use and prevention. The second
will identify our community’s strategies for action and change.

Dialogue group facilitated by Samonte Cruz and Wynn Buchwitz, two trans community
members. Anonymity and confidentiality of the participants is
guaranteed. In order to facilitate the exchange of information, there will
be a note taker, and Zarina Mulla, a city employee. If you have any
concerns/questions/comments, please contact the facilitators at:
