Left Movie Night

Where:
Dogwood Centre, 706 Clark Drive (Clark @ E. Georgia)

When:
Saturday, 7th of February 2004 from 7:00 PM until approximately 10:45 PM

Cost: By donation

7:00 pm: "The Un-Canadians" (1996, 72 minutes)

>From the late 1940s through to the 1970s, the Canadian government investigated
one million Canadians for having Communist or leftist sympathies.
"The Un-Canadians" uncovers some of their stories and
documents the workings of a secret government agency, the "Security
Panel," an organization that, along with the RCMP security service,
shaped and monitored the development of a Canadian blacklist during the
Cold War. This documentary tracks down the supposed
"subversives" and traces the effect that the blacklist had on
their lives.

8:45 pm: "Bowling for Columbine" (2002, 90 minutes)

This award-winning documentary by Michael Moore examines the USA's
fascination with guns and the reasons for that country's high murder rate.

Refreshments will be available.

Sponsored by the Young Communist League, Centre for Socialist Education, and
Vancouver East Club CPC.
