THE PEOPLE'S PROM WANTS YOU!

It's that time of year again folks. Mark your calendars cuz on Saturday
February 14th you’ll be at THE PEOPLE'S PROM!

“What’s The People's Prom?” you may ask. Only the most kick ass antidote
to Valentine’s Day in the city. You like funk and frolic? Love and
revolution? Perfect. 80’s beats, valentine treats and limbo feats await
you at the best dance party you’ve been to since grade 10, guaranteed.

But The People’s Prom is more than a party. Each year the money raised
goes into The People’s Trust Fund. The money in the Fund is given to one
(or several) individuals or groups working on a specific issue. This year,
any creative resistance, direct action or grassroots groups fighting the
two year time limit on social assistance could be the recipients of much
needed funds. (Interested? Email peoplesprom at resist.ca or check out our
website [insert website address] to find out more.)

“Wow! How do you pull of such an amazing feat?” you wonder. “And more
importantly, how the hell can I be a part of the party of the year?”

VOLUNTEER!

Don’t just come to The People’s Prom – be a part of The People’s Prom. We
need people to volunteer in the following areas:

Before:
•	Poster: they don’t put themselves up. We’ve got flyers too.
•	Set up: decorating is fun! Help on the day of putting up streamers,
blowing up balloons, and carrying heavy stuff.
•	Decorations: are you artistic? Have a construction paper fetish? Handy
with a glue gun? Email peoplesprom at reist.ca for deets on how you can make
the prom look as good as you do.

During:
•	Door: take money, stamp hands, control the crowd. “Don’t worry,
there’s plenty of room for everyone.”
•	Stage managers: a lot happens on that stage and we need people to keep
the show going. Access all areas, boss people around, be the star behind
the scenes.
•	MC: now’s the time to let your inner MC shine through. Keep things
hopping with your spotlight lovin’ cleverness, coordinate the piñata
smashing, be the star in front of the scenes. We’d like two please, so ask
a friend.
•	Security: cops suck. And that’s why we need you. Keep the peace and
secure the vibe.
•	Bar: you know the drill. Serve booze, keep people happy. Serving It
Right preferred.
•	Kissing booth: kiss people, break hearts. Kissing It Right preferred
(training provided).

After:
•	Tear down: pull down, sweep up and chuck away. Just don’t mix the brown
bottles with the green.

Your night will not be entirely taken up with prom responsibilities. You
can volunteer for as long or as little as you like, but we’d like you to
commit for a minimum of one hour on the night itself. There’ll be plenty
of time for drinking and smooching after.

As a volunteer, you will get in free, revolutionise Valentine’s Day, have
the satisfaction of being a part of something wonderful, receive a
promtastic gift, and get laid for sure.

Interested? Email peoplesprom at resist.ca to set yourself up. And don't
forget to tell your friends.

Thanks so much from the peeps at The People’s Prom.
