IN PURSUIT OF JUSTICE: What the Rape Relief Decision Means for the Trans
Community

On December 19th the BC Supreme Court overturned the BC Human Rights Tribunal
ruling that Rape Relief had breached the Human Rights Code when it refused to
allow Kimberly Nixon, a transsexual woman, to train as a volunteer at their
women-only rape crisis centre and shelter for battered women. Kimberly and
her lawyer barbara findlay will be appealing the decision to the Supreme
Court of Canada.
Come to this open forum to:
* hear the details of the judge's ruling
* discuss the implications for trans people and service providers
* talk about what the next steps will be in pursuit of equality for trans people
