StopWar.ca Coalition Plans March and Rally for March 20, 2004

StopWar.ca, Vancouver's broad-based peace/anti-war coalition, has endorsed
the international call for a day of action on March 20, 2004 and has begun
planning a major rally and march for that date.

The date marks one year since the illegal U.S.-led bombing of Iraq began,
and March 20 is shaping up as a truly global day of protest like the
historic February 15 demonstrations last year. In the United States, the
date has been endorsed by the United for Peace and Justice and the
International ANSWER coalitions, while in Europe the recent meeting of the
European Social Forum (ESF) --the body that initiated the call for February
15, 2003-- also endorsed the date.

Peace Flame Park, at the south end of the Burrard Street Bridge, has been
set as a gathering point at 11:00 a.m on the Saturday of the rally. Full
details on the rally and march will be out shortly, and posters and
leaflets should be available for download by mid-January.

Now is the time to get involved towards making March 20 a truly mass rally
and march against war and occupation. Please spread the word, add your
group's endorsation, or get involved yourself in the organizing work of
StopWar.ca. The next general meeting of the coalition is Wednesday, January
7, 5:30p.m. at the Maritime Labour Centre (1880 Triumph at Victoria Dr.).
