Stop war.ca Public Forum: Business Suits and Flak-Jackets

Maritime Labour Centre, 111 Victoria
Maritime Labour Centre 111 Victoria (corner of Victoria Drive and Triumph).
When:
Friday, 13th of February 2004 from 7:00 PM until approximately 10:00 PM
Think Iraq-military battles, flak-jackets. Think Canada - business
schemes for privatization of public resources.
Now switch. Think Iraq - business schemes for privatization. ThinkCanada -
schemes to militarize the corporations.
U.S. empire building by trade and by war is the theme of a forum
organized by STOPWAR.ca, a coalition of over 140 organizations in B.C.
The two speakers are David Bacon and Steven Staples.
David Bacon is a prominent photo-journalist and labour reporter in California.
He is author of the new book_ Children of NAFTA_. Just returned from Iraq, he
will speak on the privatization of the Iraqi economy and the response to this
of the trade union and workers movement. Steven Staples, formerly with the
Council of Canadians, now director of the Polaris Institute Project on the
Corporate-security state will speak about the militarization of our
economy and the policies of the Martin government.
