The Kwangju Uprising

- In May of 1980 hundreds of thousands of people took the streets of Kwangju, 
South Korea, defeated riot police and soldiers and looted weapons from 
military depots and police stations, seizing control of the city. The 
Kwangju Commune may have only lasted for a few days, but its international 
significance continues.
