Sisters and Brothers:

Since the election of the Gordon Campbell Liberals, we have witnessed a
concerted and vicious attack on British Columbia’s poor and working
people;
women, queers, persons with disabilities, Indigenous people, elders,
immigrants and refugees have also been in this government’s cross-hairs.

This hateful and reactionary crusade has resulted in a surge of
homelessness, lost jobs, busted unions, privatization, and cuts to vital

social services like welfare and medicare. While there has been some
valiant resistance, we have been unable to stop these attacks, let alone

reverse the damage that has already been done.

Therefore, the Communities Solidarity Coalition (CSC), a coalition of
trade
union and community activists in Victoria, is proposing a “Grassroots
Fight
Back Conference” for this October in Victoria. The main objectives of
the
conference, subject to discussion, would be the strengthening of bonds
that
have grown during the common struggle against the BC Liberals, a common
set
of demands, strategy and tactics, and finding ways to sustain our
movement
for justice and dignity beyond the next election, regardless of whatever

political party forms the next government.

Activists from the CSC will be coming to Vancouver this SATURDAY, AUGUST
7,
for a meeting with local activists in the Common Room of the LORE KRILL
HOUSING CO-OP, at 65 WEST CORDOVA, VANCOUVER, between 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
(a
few activists from other parts of BC will also be in attendance).

ALL PEOPLE IN THE LOWER MAINLAND WHO ARE INTERESTED IN FIGHTING BACK
AGAINST
THE BC LIBERALS & THEIR CORPORATE AND WEALTHY SUPPORTERS ARE WARMLY
INVITED
AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND THIS MEETING! We appreciate that notice is
short
and the weather is much too nice to spend a Saturday afternoon in a hot
room, but it is our hope that enough folks will attend to assist our
Victoria friends in organizing this vital and important conference.
