Queer Middle Eastern Film (& dance) Night in Vancouver!
It's settled! For all those in Vancouver, you now have the chance to see, "I
Exist: Voices from the Lesbian and Gay Middle Eastern Community living in
the U.S."
Through personal stories of courage and love, this 56-minute documentary shows us
how individuals and families are breaking cultural barriers and how
homophobia can be overcome.
We will be opening this feature with the 10-minute short, The Red Chewing Gum.
This erotic short is a love poem of sorts as one man recalls meeting another in
an alley fifteen years earlier.
Following the films will be a chance to hang out and groove to the beats of dj MTS.
This event is a benefit for the production of a Seattle-based, Queer,
Arab-American narrative film, called 'Writing Home.' The event is
co-sponsored by Salaam Vancouver and ExplorAsian.com.
Sunday, May 2 / 7 pm
$5 - $10 sliding scale
