Greetings!
Black Cat Video is pleased to present....
The Satan Macnuggit Video Road Show
*** RECYCLED CINEMA ***
WHEN: Sunday September 7, 2 PM
WHERE: Roberts Creek Legion, Roberts Creek
$3 members, $5 non-members
Satan Macnuggit Popular Arts is proud to present Recycled Cinema an
innovative two-hour touring programme of subversive animations, crafty
lo-fi shorts, and culture jamming collages.
At running times ranging from 60 seconds to 18 minutes, and with budgets
averaging under $100, these films are healthily REDUCED from the average
Hollywood behemoth. They RE-USE old technology like the VHS camcorder and
Super 8 film, for fun and economy. And they RECYCLE imagery from mass
media in supremely satirical collage pieces that you won't see on the tube
any time soon.
The 18 films in the programme pit cardboard-box robots against crazed
motivational speakers, dyke superheroes against trailer trash
transvestites, and dum-dum presidents against humanity. The lineup
includes:
Become the Media by Siue Moffat
State of the Union by Marc Adornato
Work and Life is Hard by Meesoo Lee
Miss Edmonton Teenburger 1983 by Amy Lockhart
Compliance Culture by Bennett Jones-Phillips
Robots Don't Wear Hats by Mare Sheppard
Plasticman and the Justice League by Jonathan Culp
Pink Eyed Pet by Allyson Mitchell and Lex Vaughn
and Super 8 Super Hero, a series of shorts by Chris Mills, Stacey DeWolfe,
Jonathan Culp, Brenda G, Rose B, Nancy MacDougall, Laurie Ward, Anne
McLeod, Will Munro, Lex Vaughn, Marc Moscato and Siue Moffat.
No Cinemascope means no Cineplex: the Satan Macnuggit Video Road Show
takes the low road, visiting over 40 bars, barns and back rooms from
Dawson City, YK to St. John's, NF in August-November 2003. Come and check
out the cutting, slicing and dicing edge of Canadian indie
cinema!
Recycled Cinema has been assisted by a grant from the Canada Council.
Satan Macnuggit Popular Arts has produced and distributed videos, zines
and music since 1996. We support grassroots art which is radical in form,
content and method. This is our third Video Road Show. Check out our web

THE VIDEOS
* Asterisk means video is available for purchase.
Production formats indicated.
CANADA'S # 1 AIR GUITARIST SAVES THE DAY *
Chris Mills, 2002, 3 minutes, super 8
A hillbilly wins the lottery, a lusty couple is ensured safe sex and an
outrageous parking fine is ripped up - all because of rockin' licks.
BECOME THE MEDIA
Siue Moffat, 2002, 1 minute, Mini DV
Activists encourage people to become the media, but an evil private police
force shooting and then billboarding the death of a graffiti artist is not
what they had in mind.
1,000 PARDONS *
Stacy DeWolfe, 2002, 2 minutes, super 8
Casio musician World Provider cavorts through scenic Berlin in his
futuristic cowboy uniform.
CAPTAIN DO-GOODER IN "HELP THE NEEDY" *
Jonathan Culp, 2002, 6 minutes, super 8
CDG is an ineffectual liberal superhero who's just trying to help, but the
proletarians he meets have other ideas. Modern silent slapstick with an
anarchic twist.
COMPLIANCE CULTURE *
Bennett Jones-Philips, 2001, 15 minutes, Betacam
An evil motivational speaker gets scarier and more absurd as he goes
along. In editing this spew down to it's essence, Bennett makes something
useful out of his day job.
WORK *
Meesoo Lee, 2001, 1 minute, Mini DV
It's Meesoo vs. the machine. He shows it who's boss!
PLASTICMAN AND THE JUSTICE LEAGUE *
Jonathan Culp, 2002, 16 minutes, found footage
Using educational films, how-to videos, Hollywood chestnuts and news
footage, Jonathan disses the post-September 11 'war on terror,' morons
trying to pass as leaders, and eye-for-an-eye economics.
ATTACK OF THE EVIL MAN ARM *
Brenda G & Rose B, 2002, 4 minutes, super 8
A beautiful real-life animation - a grrrl turns herself into a feminist
super hero. Music by Bob
Wiseman.
ROBOTS DON'T WEAR HATS EPISODE ONE *
Mare Sheppard, 2000, 15 minutes, Digital 8
Mare uses cardboard boxes as high tech devices in her ultra-cheap sci-fi
comedy about a domineering dumpstered Sean-Conneryesque robot. With Mare's
friends acting and a smart and hilarious script.
CYCLE SAVER VS. THE BIKE LANE BITCH *
Nancy MacDougall, Anne McLeod, Laurie Ward, 2002, 8 minutes, super 8
Cycle Saver meets her nemesis, a clueless driver who just doesn't
understand that bike lanes aren't for cars.
SLICKSTER FIXTER *
Lex Vaughn, 2001, 4 minutes, super 8
With a wink and a wiggly hop, Slickster impresses a caf girl, cracks a
lock at the YMCA and miraculously fixes a hair cut gone bad. Winner, 2001
Toronto Art Dyke of the year.
MISS EDMONTON TEENBURGER 1983 IN IT'S PARTY TIME *
Amy Lockhart, 2000, 15 minutes, Hi 8
A trailer trash transvestite throws a party for bizarre friends and her
evil baby. John Waters on
crack does not begin to describe the technicolor gross-out riot that
ensues.
P-GRRRL *
Siue Moffat, 2002, 5 minutes, super 8
This claymation caped crusader helps women deal with having a full bladder
in foreign countries, places with pay toilets, on the street and on the
picket lines.
LIFE IS HARD *
Meesoo Lee, 2001, 2 minutes, Mini DV
A simple camera set up, a design on wall and a funky beat frame Meesoo as
he struts to stand still.
REBELS RULE *
Will Munro, 2002, 5 minutes, super 8
Queer anarchists train for a revolution by throwing molotov cocktails,
karate kicking, making out in the streets and wearing arty underwear.
Music by the Hidden Cameras.
PINK EYED PET *
Allyson Mitchell/Lex Vaughn, 2002, 3 minutes, super 8, colour
Tells the story of a pet - played by a pussy willow - that was loved too
much. It must be placed in a plastic box, never to be handled again!
28 SUPER 8 SUPER HEROES *
Marc Moscato, 2002, 2 minutes, super 8
Dressed in outrageous costumes and hamming it up, Students for Peace of
Eugene, OR march against the war in Afghanistan. These are the real super
heroes.
STATE OF THE UNION *
Marc Adornato, 2002, 10 minutes, found footage
When George W. Bush talks, the world listens - and hoots, razzes, pulls
down its pants, etc. Marc, on the other hand, lets the footage do the
talking. DC '02 as Nuremberg ', a propos.
Plus: Bonus goodies!
Total running time: 2 hours
