Hello,

A group of Vancouver activists are planning a hunger strike
campout protest against the FTAA at the Peace Arch border crossing
starting Monday, October 27th and continuing at least until the Miami FTAA
Minesterial. If you know anyone who might want to get
involved in some West Coast FTAA Solidarity, or if you could post the
following announcement anywhere interested people might be able to read
it, that would be so helpful! If you have any ideas and could drop me a
line that would be really great. Hope to talk to you soon.

Peace,
Sparrow :0)

BACKGROUND:
In recent years, representatives from 34 countries including Canada have
been working to expand the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)
to Central America, South America and the Caribbean. The Free Trade Area
of the Americas (FTAA) is another example of the free-market
fundamentalism that has created a global race-to-the-bottom that
threatens the environment, families' livelihoods, human rights, and
democracy. Once again, a sweeping "free trade" agreement is in the works
that puts commercial interests above human rights and environmental
protection.
