elk creek is one of the largest areas of ancient rainforests remaining in the 
lower fraser valley and is an area held sacred by the cheam and other first 
nations. 

a short time ago a company called cattermole timber began logging it, but 
through a determined effort the cheam first nation and some local enviro's have 
earned a one week moratorium to stop the logging. the moratorium ends on sunday 
october 12th and cattermole will most likely try to start cutting again once it 
is expired. a company called resorts west, plans to build a huge ski resort in 
time for the olympics once the mountain is logged.  

there is much energy going towards stopping the cutting of this area, but more 
is needed. this is more than an environmental issue its an issue of aboriginal 
title and stopping the creation of another playground for the rich.  please come 
out and show your support.
