Saturday, November 22nd 

This Saturday, Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) will march and rally demanding:  
 
End the occupations of Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan! 
 
Stop the war at home and abroad: Stop attacks on immigrants and refugees! Self-determination for Indigenous people! 

In response to the intense escalation of the situation in Iraq and the 
continuing heroic resistance of the Iraqi people, MAWO has called a major march and rally this Saturday. 
 
This week, the launching of the US "Operation Iron Hammer" has led to a new level of brutality against the people of Iraq. The bombing of so-called  'guerrilla' bases and the shooting of crowds assembled in marketplaces in Baghdad by the US forces have placed this march and rally at a critical time in the war and occupation. Opposition and resistance to the war and occupation have spread throughout all of Iraq and outward through the rest of the world, including Vancouver. 

This new era of imperialist rivalry and aggression has disastrous 
effects for poor and oppressed people all over the world, including brutal 
occupations abroad, the slashing of immigrant and refugee rights at home, and a clamping down on civil liberties as the international movement against imperialism and capitalism deepens. 

A movement against the wars and occupations is a movement that 
struggles for the self-determination of  First Nations in Cheam, Grassy Narrows, and Skwelkwekwelt, and everywhere oppressed people are resisting.
