MOVIE: The Revolution Will Not Be Televised
Tonight at Pacific Cinemateque 1131 Howe ST.
6:30 pm in the Festival Plaza

Conexion Latina/Latin America Connexions, in solidarity with other
activists and organizations, will be holding a showing of the
award-winning film The Revolution Will Not Be Televised at 6:30 pm in the
Plaza at the Amnesty International Film Festival.

A second showing of the film will be held at:
 The Dogwood Centre,
 706 Clark Drive (at Georgia)
 9:00 PM

These showings are in part to highlight the decision by
Amnesty International Vancouver to withdraw the film from the Festival
Lineup after succumming to political pressure by anti-Chavez forces in
Venezuela, the same forces responsible for the human rights abuses
documented in the film.

This film documents the events leading up to and including the
coup-attempt on Democratically elected Hugo Chavez, and is a vital part of
Venezuelan's recent political and social history. It is vital that Amnesty
International recognize the importance of highlighting human rights abuses
in Venezuela, and that by buckling to international pressures to withdraw
this film, it becomes part of the conspiracy of silence. By highlighting
this film, we hope to break this conspiracy of silence and send a message
to human rights abusers and anti-democratic forces in Venezuela that their
pressure will not prevent the truth, in its many forms, from surfacing!

We will (I hope) be able to provide folding chairs. Bring a blanket, as it
will be cold. Otherwise, join us at the Dogwood Centre for the 9 PM
showing.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Winnie Kuitenbrouwer
Conexion Latina/Latin American Connexions.
