Fight the war abroad and fight the war at home.
We are fighting for:
1) Welfare on Demand!
2) An End to the Three Week Wait!
3) Stop the Disability Review!
4) End the Two-Year Time Limit!
5) Obliterate Bill 26 and 27, the Employment and Assistance Act and the
Employment and Assistance Act for People with Disabilities!
6) Repeal the Entire Liberal Legislative Package!
Last year we went for lunch. This year we're going for dinner.
On April 1st, APC will launch our campaign against the BC Liberal's
welfare laws, the Employment and Assistance Act and the Employment and
Assistance Act for People with Disabilities. These laws were enacted
last year as Bills 26 & 27, and have resulted in over 60,000 people
losing welfare, over 30 confirmed suicides of people with disabilities,
and rapidly escalating homelessness. But that is just the beginning -
the two year out of five time limit is a ticking time bomb, that come
April 1st, 2004, will indescriminately deny assistance to people
without consideration to their circumstances. Right now these laws are
an unfolding tragedy. By next year it will be a catastrophe.
Our mission is to completely reverse and cut out these laws. We will
take our fight directly to those in power. Our campaign will start with
an action that targets the people who have designed and implemented
these laws. Join us as we hold yet another disruptive dinner, with
food, music and speakers.
We have free buses leaving from the Downtown Eastside
Meet @ 5pm @ Pigeon Park (Carrall & Hastings)
