*** Kathy has been to Iraq 20 times since 1996
*** She remained in Baghdad during the bombing
*** Co-founder of Chicago-based "Voices in the Wilderness"
*** 3-time nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize
Kathy Kelly, co-founder of Chicago-based Voices in the Wilderness, has for the past 12 years been raising awareness of the suffering of the Iraqi people under US-led sanctions on Iraq and has organized many delegations to that country
Kathy has been to Iraq 20 times since 1996 to witness the devastating effects the UN sanctions were having on Iraqi civilians.
She remained in Baghdad during this past war in solidarity with the people of Iraq and to witness the cruelty and depravity of "shock and awe" bombing. Her first-hand experience in Iraq provides a counterbalance to pro-war disinformation.
Kelly will be speaking on Monday July 14th 7.30p.m. at Unitarian Church West 49th & Oak. Admission is free.
This forum is co-sponsored by the Social Justice Committee of the Unitarian Church of Vancouver and the Coalition in Solidarity with the People of Iraq, (CESAPI). Endorsed by Stopwar.ca
Kelly will be available for a phone interview from Seattle on Saturday & Sunday the 12th & 13th July and in Vancouver Monday the 14th in the afternoon.
