***PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY!***
The Victory Square Tent City is in desperate need of a video camera!
Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to obtain a video camera. One
is desperately needed, not only as a deterrent to possible police violence,
but to record other attacks on the homeless and their supporters, such as
what occured yesterday when violent drug dealers assaulted a few of the
squatters (police attended, briefly detained a few of the dealers and then
promptly released them!).
If you have access to a video camera, or know somebody who does, please
contact the Anti-Poverty Committee to make arrangements to bring it down
(please DO NOT bring it to the Tent City; bring it to the APC Office
instead).
The videocam should have a charger, battery, plenty of recording capacity
and have "night vision" capabilities, if possible (if you film the police at
night using a light, you can be charged with "obstruction").
The videocam will be entrusted to an APC member who will be responsible for
it. The owner will have their camera returned at the conclusion of the Tent
City.
If you can help us with this or other donations (such as tents) please call
the APC Office at 604-682-2726. The address of our office is:
108-119 West Pender Street,
Vancouver, Coast Salish Territory
Hours: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday to Friday (excluding holidays)
