Celebrate the Chinese New Year In the Downtown Eastside

Vancouver - The afternoon promises to be a day of surprises and delights 
for children and grown-ups alike. Year of the Goat Festival will feature 
puppet shows and free live music. As well, children can enjoy numerous 
activities, including face painting, petting zoo, and traditional crafts. 
The fun continues with carnival games and entertainment by the Lion Dance, 
and with guest appearances by the Fortune God who will hand out New Years' 
surprise gift envelopes. Everyone is treated to a free Chinese feast.

         Spokesperson, Sam Monckton notes, "it's truly wonderful to be 
bringing in a festival of this nature into Canada's poorest postal code. 
Many of the residents here would be otherwise unable to attend such an 
event. We make sure that the area residents are able to, regardless of 
their income. It is important for all people to enjoy cultural expression."
