Black History Month Celebration
A Proud Legacy of Resistance to War
Saturday, February 22, 7:30 pm
With the drum beat of war banging loudly, we know that it is youth of color
who will be on the frontlines in the military. Come to this exciting forum
and keep alive the history of African American defiance that stretches from
C.L.R. James in World War II, to the Black Panthers and Martin Luther King
Jr. during the Vietnam War, and to Mumia Abu-Jamal and the Black Radical
Congress today.
Speakers
Louis St. Cyr
Former member of the Black Panther Party which opposed the Vietnam war &
Central Area community organizer still dedicated to the struggle for justice.
Dr. Artee F. Young
Faculty at Evergreen State College teaching "Civil Rights, Civil Liberties
and the War on Terrorism" & mentor to numerous law and public service
students.
Carl Livingston
Political science professor at Seattle Central Community College &
committee member of the Loren Miller Bar Association.
Megan Cornish
Anti-war student activist in the 1960s, now a member of the No War Against
Iraq Coalition and co-author of "The Chicano Struggle."
