A new exhibition of works by three First Nations artists involved
with Redwire Magazine.
2400 an Indian odyssey is a visioning of the future. It is a path, a
direction, a place that is safe for First Nations voices. It¹s about understanding
about how First Nations people are affected by the colonial story of this
land, and understanding how we are all affected by this story. It¹s about
understanding that our voices are living. It¹s about hearing a good story
and laughing with a loud Indian belly laugh.
Featuring new works by Tania Willard, of the Secpwemec Nation and Gord Hill, from the
Kwakiutl Nation, works visioning how First Nations people¹s identity,
language, location, geography will change for the future. We are not just
what was collected in the past, this is just a small part of our story, now
there is the present and the future that need to be taken in to consideration,
a new place, new path and new directions.
Also featuring a brand new performance piece by Skeena Reece, Tsimhian/Cree.
Crow says: ³the answers that you need are right here, with you, nowhere else. The
voice that you need is right here with you, nowhere else. The vision that you
need is right here with you, nowhere else.²
