[van-announce] Against war and occupation? Get involved!

Hello all:
 
StopWar.ca has taken on an ambitious fall schedule and needs you to get involved! 
 
September 28th has been called as an International Day of Action against war and occupation. In Vancouver, we have taken this day on as a major day of mobilization against the occupation of Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan. It is crucial that we are able to bring thousands and thousands of people back into the streets to show that the war is not over. We did not stand for the bombing of the people of Iraq. We will not stand for the checkpoints, arrest, detention, torture, murder, rape, starvation, mass poverty and all other daily indignities of life under occupation by the largest and most powerful military in the world. We will not stand for the war against terrorism. People all around the world, from Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, to Colombia, the Phillipines, Pakistan, to Canada and the US, are being targeted through racial and religious profiling to carry out this war. To resist, we need to all get involved.
 
StopWar.ca has weekly leafleting times set to help build this Day of Action. We meet every Thursday, 4pm to 6pm and every Saturday, noon to 2pm at the South East corner of Broadway and Commercial in front of the skytrain station. A team of two people stay at a table there while other teams go out to outreach different parts of the lower mainland. 
 
We book other leafleting and postering times every week and are putting on events, such as forums and movie nights, to help build this day of action. We need the particpation of everyone who is interested in building a movement against war and occupation. A big part of building this movement is going out into the streets to talk to people and to let them know what is going on. This work is immesurably valuable and it is something that everyone can get involved in. Whether you can afford two hours, two days or more in a week; it is crucial that you get involved.
 
The next Stopwar.ca outreach meeting is Wednesday August 27, 7pm at the Grind Cafe (Main st at 25th Ave).
 
The next StopWar.ca general meeting is Wednesday September 3rd, 5:30pm at the Maritime Labour Centre (Victoria Drive at Pandora St.)
 
Get involved! End the Occupation of Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan!
