Although this is a bit short notice, these folks will be losing their
jobs this week. They have already had a walkout/community picket at
their site in Victoria.

A group of HEU members are coming from Victoria to hold a rally at the
Salvation Army headquarters on Thursday am. Any promotion would be
appreciated.

* #101 - 3833 Henning Drive, Burnaby (1 block south of Lougheed at
Boundary)
BACKGROUND
Over 100 HEU members at Sunset Lodge in Victoria are fired effective
August 9. Over 90% are women. Most have worked there over 10years - some
as long as 24 years.
As the employer, the Salvation Army is using Bill 29 provisions to
contract out RN, LPN, care and activity aides, social workers, cooks,
food service and maintenance workers, housekeepers and clerical support
workers at this 108 bed long term care facility.
