Canadian Critical Race Conference 2003: Pedagogy and
Practice

This is a special invitation to all community members,
students, staff, faculty,
activists, scholars and citizens who are interested in
furthering their
understanding of race issues and engaging in critical
debate. Join us as we
engage in dialogue and discussion that will:
-create a link between theory and practice on critical
race issues
-examine intersectionalities of oppressions
-explore various forms of knowledge, what's
legitimized and how it's transmitted
-create partnerships with indigenous communities and
communities of colour
-foster an inter-connected community of global
citizens working towards a
 racially just society
-examine current global issues within the context of
critical ! race theory

- Nahla Abdo: Professor of Sociology at Carleton
University
- Wayson Choy: award-winning author of The Jade Peony
& Paper Shadows
- Jeanette Armstrong: Okanagan, an author and artist,
and the Executive Director
  of En'owkin International School of Writing and Art
- Graham Hingangaroa Smith: Pro Vice Chancellor,
Maori, at the University of

- Sherene  Razack: Professor of Sociology and Equity
Studies at the University of Toronto

The Canadian Critical Race Conference 2003: Pedagogy
and Practice will bring
together Indigenous scholars, community activists,
theorists, practitioners,
students and Researchers and Academics of Colour in
Education (R.A.C.E) from
across Canada, various community organizations, and
across a diverse range of disciplines to offer over 40
workshops and presentations.
