PICKET CATERPILARS
Thursday, April 24 10:00 am Fairmont Waterfront Hotel Picket

Palestine Solidarity Group calls for a picket of the Annual General Meeting of Finning International Inc. Finning, in Canada and in most of the world, is the exclusive dealer of Caterpilar products. Caterpilar prides itself on its products being 'flexible': easily convertible from civilian to military uses. For example, the Israeli Defence Forces uses modified D9 bulldozers to montly demolish hundreds of Palestinian homes, often killing innocent residents at the same time and recently, killing ISM activist Rachel Corey as she tried to prevent such a home demolition. We are bringing the folling demands:
·	Stop dealing with war criminals
·	Stop distributing Caterpillar to the IDF
·	Reparations for Palestinians whose homes have been destroyed by Caterpillar machinery
Gather at 10:00 am outside Ballroom C at The Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, 900 Canada Place.

Shown together with Palestine is Still the Issue, John Pilger's exploration of the effects of the illegal military occupation by Israel on ordinary Palestinians, a violation which effectively makes them refugees in their own land.

Celebrate Peace and the Environment:
Saturday, April 26
Earth Day Family Peace Picnic

Four days after Earth Day on April 22, come down to the park with your whole family for a day full of peace and environmental related activities. Parents bring your children, children bring your parents - there will be things to do for everyone. Speakers, music and information tables will be arranged. This will be an afternoon event designed to let people get to know one another. Activities will focus in part on the enviromental costs of war. The war, however, is still with us, now in the form of a U.S occupation of Iraq, and other activities will deal with this, draw parallels to the Israeli occupation of Palestine, and look at the state of the anti-war movement at this important juncture.
Location: Central Park in Burnaby

Dr. Helen Caldicott - The New Nuclear Danger
St. Andrews-Wesley Church Speaker
Dr. Helen Caldicott speaks on Nusclear Madness and Missile Envy: The New Nuclear Danger
Dr. Helen Caldicott is the founder of Physicians for Social Responsibility, and a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize. She has devoted the last 30 years to an international campaign to educate the public about the medical hazards of the nuclear age.

Dr. Caldicott demonstrates conclusively that the notion of nuclear survival is a fantasy, and that nuclear victory is an oxymoron. The evidence she presents stands to alert and mobilize millions of young people, helping them to understand the planetary threat posed by an aggressive weapons industry in a volatile world.

"Dr. Helen Caldicott has the rare ability to combine science with passion, logic with love, and urgency with humour...At the dark dawn of another war without end, it is once again time to listen up as she sounds the global alarm." - Naomi Klein, author of No Logo.

Suggested donation: sliding scale $5 to $20
