Job title: Studio Technician / Station Engineer
Organization: Vancouver Co-operative Radio, CFRO,
102.7FM
Job information:
The studio technician/station engineer has overall
responsibility for all radio equipment in the station.
This position is one of a team of 4 part-time staff. Each staff
member is responsible for planning and prioritizing their own
activities in accordance with their job description and the
expressed priorities of the Board of Directors.
Vancouver Cooperative Radio, CFRO, 102.7FM is a
community radio station, in operation since 1975. All
programming is done by volunteers. The station moved to a
new location last year and is in the final stages of building a
new on-air studio containing professional quality equipment.
Responsibilities include:
Maintaining and repairing all studio and control room
equipment, being on call to deal with emergencies (such as the
station going off-air), preparing a yearly budget for equipment
replacement and purchase, purchasing equipment as needed,
coordinating workshops and training in production studio,
assisting artists-in-residence and other programmers with their
projects, liaising with transmitter maintenance company.
Essential skills:
? University degree or post-secondary training in sound
engineering.
? At least 2 years experience as a studio technician/sound
engineer, including experience with installation of sound
equipment and TTL circuit design.
? Familiarity with Protools editing system and recording
equipment.
General skills:
? Excellent interpersonal skills to relate to volunteers from
diverse backgrounds and at various levels of the organization
? Ability to work effectively as a team member
? Track record of meeting assigned goals with minimum
supervision.
? Experience working with community broadcast media an
asset
Salary and hours:
$18.46 per hour + generous benefits and vacation package
Unionized through Canadian Auto Workers (CAW)
The position is permanent part-time: 20 hours per week
