Headlines has been operating since 1981. The Company?s mandate is to
promote, develop and produce community-based theatre generally and THEATRE
FOR LIVING specifically, as these theatrical forms spring from and speak to
issues that arise from community concerns; theatre that raises social
awareness, encourages new audiences and shares in theatre-making skills. To
build a working relationship between the theatre and the communities it
serves.
Salary $33,800/annum
QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience in Arts Administration (preferably
theatre) is required, as is familiarity with not for profit fundraising and
the Vancouver cultural/not for profit community. Knowledge of and an
ability to work with a broad spectrum of community organizations. Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of generally accepted
accounting and bookkeeping practices. Experience with cash flow
projections, and ability to work with bookkeeper and auditor. Knowledge of
theatre production procedures particularly in the area of production
management, contracting and tour organization. Computer literacy -
Macintosh - Excel, MSWord, Filemaker Pro, MYOB, Outlook Express. This
position is responsible to the Artistic and Managing Director (AMD).
DUTIES INCLUDE:
MANAGEMENT: Helping oversee the daily activities of the company in support
of the AMD.
FUNDRAISING: Working with the AMD, the development and preparation of
project funding proposals. Innovative searches for new sources of funds in
relation to the subject matter of upcoming projects. Follow-up and
subsequent reporting to funders as required.
FINANCIAL: Monitoring of the annual budget with the AMD. Liaison with
Theatre M.O.M. Associates (Operations Management), the bookkeeper and
auditor. Maintenance of project budgets, bank statements, chequebooks,
account coding, accounts receivable and payable, project payroll, donations.
CONTRACTS: Negotiation and development of contracts (e.g., engagers,
rentals, suppliers, individual artists and technicians, Canadian Actors
Equity Association and other Unions/Associations). OFFICE: Participation in
office procedures (mail, telephone, fax, e-mail) plus stoking and
maintenance of office supplies. Creation/co-ordination of internal Office
Procedures Manual.
PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT AND TOUR ORGANIZATION: as needed.
ARTS COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Active participation on behalf of the company
in various committees as needed.
