 A CALL TO NORTHWEST ANARCHIST-COMMUNISTS

The world we live in today is in deep trouble. We no longer have the
luxury to wait until conditions are ripe for anarchist organizing. We
must begin to organize with the support base that we have now and build
from there.

As anarchist-communists, we understand, both historically and through our
own experiences, that when like-minded anarchists join together in
organized effort we are able to have our greatest impact. We are not the
only ones who have come to this conclusion.

All over the world there has been resurgence in anarchist organizing. Two
examples of this that have influenced us are the North East Federation of
Anarcho-Communists and the newly created Federation of Anarchist
Collectives (Great Lakes Region).

We seek to create a federation that would include the different means of
anarchist-communist organizing including: class struggle, anti-racism,
anti-sexism, anarchist environmentalism, and other such struggles that
directly confront the State, capitalism, and all forms of oppression,
exploitation and bigotry. We are not out to create a vanguard
organization that seeks to control the struggle or seeks to seize power,
but rather we want to actively empower people, through self-organization,
self-determination and self-management.

We are not missionaries; we are oppressed and exploited people out to
join with others in a struggle to create a new society free from
authoritarian power structures.

This conference has been the effort of 8 months of direct discussion
within the NW Anarchist-Communist Organizing Network (NWACON), which was
created for the purpose of helping to lay the groundwork for the creation
of a NW Anarchist-Communist Federation.

While we realized that struggle comes in many different forms, we seek to
create a federation of like minded anarchists that is able to form a
unity of ideas and action that can proceed to actively initiate and
support on going struggles.

Our founding conference is open to ALL ANARCHIST COMMUNISTS within the
northwest region of Canada and the U.S. that are in general agreement
with this statement. We also welcome those out side of our region to the
conference as non-voting guests. Our organizing efforts of the NWACON for
the founding conference will continue and those interested in helping are
