Francis Street Squats 12th Anniversary Night as a benefit for the
Woodwards Squat

12 years ago the fight against the gentrification of the Commercial Drive
community and for social housing in Vancouver was on! The squats on
Francis St. were open for more than 8 months and inspired other empty
houses being opened on the East Side. The Francis Street Squat was
brutally evicted by order of the Vancouver City Council and its Mayor at
that time... none other than Gordon Campbell.

As the fight against homelessness and for affordable social housing heats
up again, we are proud to present:

"The Beat of Francis Street", a documentary made by the Francis Street
Squatters in 1990, followed by a Q&A with former Francis Street Squat
folks who will be in attendance.
