Financial Administrator
Date of posting: Tues Nov 5, 2002.

This position manages all financial transactions for Vancouver Cooperative
Radio, a community radio station in operation since 1975. The position is
one of a team of 4 part-time staff.  Staff members work as a collective
and meet regularly to exchange information and prioritize shared tasks.
In addition to the specific duties described below, each staff member has
shared responsibility for office management.

Responsibilities include:
========================
maintaining complete, accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records,
preparing and presenting monthly financial statements and reports to the
Finance Committee and the Board of Directors, managing and keeping
accurate records of accounts payable and accounts receivable, maintaining
payroll records, working with VCR's accountants to prepare year-end
financial statements, maintaining files with relevant government agencies,
managing all contractual negotiations, applying for and administering
regular grants, maintaining sponsorship accounts.

Qualifications:
==============
- University degree or post-secondary training in office/business
management
- At least 2 years experience in office management, preferably in a
non-profit organization
- Proficient in Simply Accounting, Access, Excel, Windows applications and
databases
- Excellent interpersonal skills to relate to volunteers from diverse
background
- Proven organizational, administrative and coordination skills
- Ability to work effectively as a team member
- Familiarity with community broadcast media an asset

Salary and hours:
================
- $18.46 per hour + generous benefits and vacation package
- Unionized through Canadian Auto Workers (CAW)
- The position is permanent part-time: 55 hours per month
