volunteers and is non-commercial radio that is financially supported by
its listeners and is located in East Vancouver, BC on Coast Salish
Territory.
Co-op Radio strives to provide programming and voices that are not
addressed by the mainstream media. Co-op Radio offers 94 different shows

Programme Coordinator
Job Posting
Date of posting: July 19, 2002
This position has overall responsibility for all programming systems at
Vancouver Cooperative Radio, a community radio station in operation since
1975. The position is one of a team of 4 part-time staff. Staff members
work as a collective and meet regularly to exchange information and
prioritize shared tasks. In addition to the specific duties described
below, each staff member has shared responsibility for office management.
Responsibilities include: working with the program committee to guide new
program applications, develop program policy and monitor programming for
compliance with station policy and Promise of Performance; coordinating
production of quarterly program guide; preparing licence renewal;
corresponding with CRTC; organizing regular volunteer orientation
sessions; coordinating training courses and workshops for programmers;
coordinating special programming and scheduling for fundraising drives;
maintaining logger systems; coordinating production of station carts.
Qualifications:
o University degree or post-secondary training in communications
o At least 2 years experience in community broadcast media, preferably
radio
o Proficient in the use of Windows applications and current office
software programs
o Excellent interpersonal skills to relate to volunteers from diverse
backgrounds and at various levels of the organization
o Proven organizational, administrative and coordination skills
Salary and hours:
o $18.46 per hour + generous benefits and vacation package
o Unionized through Canadian Auto Workers (CAW)
o The position is permanent part-time: 110 hours per month

Responsibilities include: maintaining complete, accurate and up-to-date
bookkeeping records, preparing and presenting monthly financial statements
and reports to the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors, managing
and keeping accurate records of accounts payable and accounts receivable,
maintaining payroll records, working with VCR's accountants to prepare
year-end financial statements, maintaining files with relevant government
agencies, managing all contractual negotiations, applying for and
administering regular grants , maintaining sponsorship accounts
Qualifications:
o University degree or post-secondary training in office/business
management
o At least 2 years experience in office management, preferably in a
non-profit organization
o Proficient in Simply Accounting, Access, Excel, Windows applications and

Studio Technician / Station Engineer
Job Posting

The studio technician/station engineer has overall responsibility for all
radio equipment for Vancouver Cooperative Radio, a community radio station
in operation since 1975. The position is one of a team of 4 part-time
staff. Staff members work as a collective and meet regularly to exchange
information and prioritize shared tasks.
Responsibilities include: maintaining and repairing all studio and control
room equipment, being on call to deal with emergencies (such as the
station going off-air), preparing a yearly budget for equipment
replacement and purchase, purchasing equipment as needed, coordinating
workshops and training in production studio, assisting programmers with
their projects, liaising with transmitter maintenance company.
Essential skills:
o University degree or post-secondary training in sound engineering.
o At least 2 years experience as a studio technician/sound engineer,
including experience with installation of sound equipment.
o Familiarity with Protools editing system and recording equipment.
General skills:
o Excellent interpersonal skills to relate to volunteers from diverse
backgrounds and at various levels of the organization
o Ability to work effectively as a team member
o Track record of meeting assigned goals with minimum supervision.
o Experience working with community broadcast media an asset
Salary and hours:
o $18.46 per hour + generous benefits and vacation package
