How much is DEMOCRACY worth to you?

The NO GAMES 2010 COALITION needs your financial help to fight the
publicly-funded, corporate-backed “Yes” campaign for the Olympics
plebiscite (Feb 22, 2003). 

To get the “NO” word out, we need to fund:

- a series of public forums
- a public debate between the Bid Corp and No Games 2010 Coalition
- public education materials
- Access to Information initiatives (to determine exactly how many
additional millions of your tax dollars will be diverted to this Olympian
cash-grab, and to follow up on several leads regarding conflicts of
interest within the Bid Corporation and various levels of government)

NO GAMES 2010 COALITION

MANDATE
- to create an active mobilization against the Olympic bid
- to promote the collective vision of a just, democratic society that uses
public funds for public priorities
- to develop solid, creative strategies and actions to oppose the Olympic
bid (building toward a mass action in February/March 2003 during the
Vancouver tour of IOC representatives)

OBJECTIVES
- to network with groups in the greater movement, some of which are
already putting energy towards opposing the Olympic bid
- to encourage groups and individuals to become involved in the process of
public awareness and outreach in all aspects of the bid

CURRENT ACTION COMMITTEES
- Petition & letter writing (petition circulation, endorsements)
- Referendum lobby (fair referendum question, lobbying the gov’t)
- Research (economic, environmental, social etc impact studies and
conflicts of interest)
- Creative resistance (street theater, non-violent direct action, other
strategies)
- Fundraising & Endorsements
- Communications (media, website, press releases)
