Job Description
NAC-BC Project Coordinator and Network Organiser

This temporary part-time position is made possible by
initiative funding.  The Coordinator/Organiser
positions exist to create a stand-alone network of
mothers involved in the child welfare system and their
advocates.  In addition, the positions exist to create
a working group with the Ministry of Children and
Family Development and other stakeholders so that the
positions and recommendations of the Mothers' Voice
Network (MoViN) can be heard.  Renumeration for the
position is $20 per hour.  The Coordinator/Organiser
must also report to the steering committee on a
regular basis and perform routine office maintenance
at the NAC-BC office.

Skills
The preferred applicant will have strong
communications skills.  She will be able to write in
language appropriate to government reports and in
basic English for the better understanding of all
readers and participants.

The preferred applicant will be a good moderator and
organiser who can bring diverse people to a common
purpose and mediate conflicts as they arise.

Knowledge
The preferred applicant will have sound working
knowledge of the oppression of women, visible
minorities and people marginalised because of their
poverty, sexual preference or disabilities.  The
preferred applicant will also be familiar with the
impacts of residential school upon aboriginal people.

Experience
The preferred applicant will have experience with
non-profit agencies and working by consensus.
Experience writing grant proposals and funding reports
is key.  Experience creating and administering budgets
is also necessary.
