Registration Now Open for International Women's Conference: Women's Voices
Advance World Dialogue Against War and Militarism



(Vancouver, Canada) -- Towards our Liberation, an international women's
conference on war and imperialism is shaping up to be a pivotal, world
event.  Hosts Grassroots Women (Vancouver) and Gabriela-Philippines have
already confirmed the participation of speakers and delegates from numerous
countries including Bangladesh, Guatemala, and Nigeria.  They urge
interested women to seize the opportunity to participate in this historic
conference by registering now.

Running from November 1-4, 2002, in Vancouver, Canada, the conference will
provide a forum for women from around the world to share their experiences
and take a resolute stance against imperialist plunder.

"Current world discourse fanatically excludes the voices of marginalized
women," explains Sarah Bailey of Grassroots Women.  "It is fundamental that
women, who experience the negative effects of war most intensely, come
together on an international plain to assure that imperialist forces cannot
continue to impose themselves unchallenged or retain their monopoly in
determining whose voices are heard."

"Towards our Liberation is an unique opportunity for women to move
international discussion away from being unquestioningly and singly
pro-war," continues Rachel Rosen of Grassroots Women.  "It is also an
opportunity to scrutinize the motivations of its backers who are desperately
trying to reverse their spiralling economic crisis."
