In-Reply-To: Message-ID: Hey all! I hope you have all had amazing, long, relaxing yet exciting summers...but it's time to go back to school, which means it's also time for ?berculture's first meeting of 2011-2012! I am so excited for this year -- there will be so many amazing opportunities to improve our club, get active on campus, and engage new students! Our first meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 6th at 6pm , at the Java U in the Hall Building. Bring a mug! We'll drink some great coffee/tea while we chat. If you are interested in participating this year, it will be a very important meeting to attend! Events are going to start happening fast this Fall, and we need to be ready to participate! The agenda is as follows: 1) Brainstorming/Discussion of Upcoming Projects and Ideas for the year 2) Many Tastes of Concordia & Sustainable Food Festival --- participation, scheduling, etc. 3) Really Really Free Market plans-- first one will (hopefully) be in September! (+ a review of new RRFM possibilities for the year) 4) Planning details of our annual Tea-In for Public Space If you absolutely can't make the meeting but still have fantastic ideas for the club this year, please feel free to send an e-mail to uberculture at csu.qc.ca, and we can bring your ideas to the table in your absence (we'll also be sending out a summary e-mail after the meeting, so you'll be up-to-date!). So bring yourself and your enthusiasm, and we'll get off to a great start. Feel free to bring friends -- newcomers are always welcome! Can't wait to see your lovely faces, Sincerely, April -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Thanks to everyone who made it out to the meeting on Tuesday! And for those of you who couldn't, hope to see you next time! We talked about loads of amazing ideas for the upcoming year, and I think we're all pretty excited :) however it would take an extremely long time to go over it all in one e-mail, so... A very brief update of the most pressing upcoming events. (The rest we can continue discussing in future meetings) 1. Many Tastes of Concordia/Club Fair: Friday, Sept. 9th --- 10am-4pm --- Reggie's Terrace We have a table reserved at which we will be able to hand out awesome snacks and talk to people about what we're all about. If you can bake something, you have (approximately, according to how many have already volunteered to bake) $15-$20 that can be reimbursed to you for ingredients. Please e-mail me if you would like to bake something but have not already told me. If you would like to show up and help out at the table, that would also be awesome! Come by at any time during the day to lend a hand, or just say hi! The following is the schedule that we have so far: Myself, Vincent, Hannah H: 10am-4pm Jason: 10am-12pm Lisa: 12:30pm-1:30pm Any extra help would be appreciated! :) 2. Sustainable Food Festival: Monday, Sept. 12th --- 10am-4pm --- Reggie's Terrace Anaii and I will be creating a display on Free Food (grow-your-own, dumpster diving, etc.), which will probably end up being worked on over the weekend, especially on Sunday night. If anyone is free to help out with this, please e-mail! We also REALLY need some help with the table throughout the day -- we still need someone from 1pm-2pm, and a few others from 2pm onward! If you are available, please e-mail me and let me know if you can help out! 3. The first RRFM: Tentatively taking place on Tuesday, September 27th --- date to be confirmed at next meeting! 4. MEETING TIME: It would be great to have even more of your wonderful selves show up to meetings, so in order to facilitate as active a group as possible, please fill out the following Doodle with your preferred meeting time(s), and we can aim to arrange a time that works for everyone! In a few days or so we can see what works best and we'll send out a confirmation e-mail for next week's meeting. http://www.doodle.com/q7z5t3wrdmtxi8vn Ok, so it wasn't THAT brief...Sorry! Since the first RRFM is coming up next week on October 4th -- make sure to check out the Facebook event here and invite your friends! -- we have a few events this week to get some important tasks done. Anaii is in charge of making our recycled/stenciled posters ( oooohh!) for the RRFM. We will have a poster-making night to help her with this on Wednesday, September 28th, from 5pm-8pm . We'll meet in the Lobby of the Hall Building, and go from there. In addition to this, we will have an Office Clean-up and Button-Making day on Thursday, September 29th, from 1pm - 5pm. We will meet in the ?berculture office, which is located at P-105 (inside of P-103), at 2020 Mackay. These events can also function as a getting-to-know-uberculture sort of thing, so if you're new to the club, this would be a great opportunity to meet some of our members in an informal setting and learn what the club is all about. We need all the helping hands we can get! I hope to see you all there! Sincerely, April Underwood -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
